FILLIES and COLTS
Our foals are checked out by our vet at birth and are then handled, halter broken and foot trimmed at the first opportunity. Later they are vaccinated, micro-chipped and registered with The Shire Horse Society. They are weaned from the mare at around 6 months and turned out with our other young horses. We usually sell the colts and some of the fillies after weaning. Retained fillies are brought on, trained, and usually broken to ride and to harness. If used for breeding they are put to a stallion at three years old.
